Item: Inventory Management Tab

Use this tab to set up replenishment rules for warehouses in which the item can be stored.
In Codejig ERP, items can be stored in all company’s warehouses and are not linked to particular warehouses in the system. Under this tab, you can specify a warehouse or warehouses where you want to keep the inventories on optimal level without stockouts. To define the optimal inventory, indicate the minimum and optimal inventory level for each warehouse added and select a default vendor. Defined minimum quantity is the reorder point. When it is hit, an action to replenish the particular inventory stock is triggered and a purchase order is automatically generated for the selected default vendor. 
Note: Items can be stored in all company’s warehouses, not only those indicated under the Inventory management tab. 
To add a new warehouse, click +Add new. The warehouse is added as a line including fields for defining warehouse details.  
Note: You cannot add one and the same warehouse several times. If you try to, you will get an error message. 
 If you add a line item, you have to fill in all required fields of this line item to be able to save the document. If you fail to fill in all required fields, you can also delete the line item to be able to save the document.  


Used for


Select a warehouse where an item is to be stored from the list of warehouses or create a new warehouse.

  • It is a required field. If a warehouse is not selected, you will not be able to save the document.

Default vendor

A business partner from whom you usually purchase the item. Select a default vendor from the list of vendors or create a new vendor.  If a default vendor is not selected, a purchase order will be generated for an unknown vendor. 


A base unit of measurement for the item. Minimum and optimal inventory levels are defined for the specified unit of measurement.

  • A base unit of measurement specified for an item is provided automatically and you cannot override it. 
  • In this field, you cannot select an alternative unit of measurement instead of the base one even if several units of measurement are defined for the item forming its set of measurement units. An alternative unit from the set can be selected only in documents.
  • It is a required field. If you delete the unit, you will not be able to save the document. 

Minimum quantity

Define the minimum amount of the item that should be in-stock at all times. The stock should never drop below this amount. The minimum quantity cannot be greater than the indicated optimal quantity. If you set the minimum quantity to be greater than the optimal quantity, the latter will be automatically increased. 

Optimal quantity

Establish the sufficient inventory level for the item in the selected warehouse. The optimal quantity cannot be less than the indicated minimum quantity. If you set the optimal quantity to be less than the minimum quantity, the latter will be automatically decreased. 

If your inventory level for the item falls below the defined Minimum quantity, then in the document Purchase order generator, Codejig ERP suggests creating a purchase order for the item for inventory replenishment that fulfills the optimal inventory level.  In the suggested purchase order, a vendor is the specified default vendor and a quantity to order is the difference between the optimal quantity and the current quantity.
