Measurement Unit: General Area

The page for defining new measurement units consists only of the General area. It includes the following fields and options:

Field/Option

Used for

Name

Enter a short name for the measurement unit. It can be an abbreviation, like h, kg or m.

  • It is a required field. If you do not provide a name for the measurement unit, you will not be able to save it.

Full name

Provide a full name for the unit of measurement, like hour, kilogram, meter.

Code

Provide a code for the unit of measurement, like 0101 for meter.

ISO code

Provide an ISO code for the unit of measurement, like HR for hour, KG for kilogram, MR for meter.

Number

Measurement unit number is assigned automatically when you save the measurement unit based on the selected numerator.

Users with the appropriate permissions can override the auto-generated number and enter it manually.
After overriding the number, automated numbering will proceed in the same manner but using the manually set number as a start value.

Note

Add any notes or comments about the measurement unit if needed.

Inactive

Turn on the Inactive option if you want to deactivate a previously active measurement unit.

If a measurement unit is inactive, it will not be available for selection or use and will be accessible only on the listing page of the Measurement unit directory.

By default, this option is turned off and all newly created measurement units are active. You can select active units from the lists for the Unit field in various documents and directories.
