Inventory Report: Default Summarizing

The basic Inventory report summarizes the following data for each active inventory item:

  • Opening quantity - the quantity present on the date specified as a report start date (in the Opening qty column).
  • Opening value - financial value of an inventory item as of the report start date/ Total cost of the opening quantity of item as of the report start date (in the Opening value column).
  • Incoming quantity - the total quantity of the item which was purchased, received or assembled within a specified report period (in the Incoming qty column).
  • Incoming value - the financial value of the incoming quantity of the item (in the Incoming value column).
  • Outgoing quantity - the quantity of the item that has been sold, written off or transferred to another warehouse within a given period (in the Outgoing qty column).
  • Outgoing value - the total COGS amount of the outgoing quantity of the item (in the Outgoing value column).
  • Ending balance quantity - the quantity present as of the report end date (in the Ending balance qty column).
  • Ending balance value -  financial value of inventory item as of the report end date/ Total cost of the ending quantity of item as of the report end date (in the Ending balance value column).

The amounts are worked out by summing the original values (using the SUM function). The summarized amounts are presented in your system currency.

Note: Summary values are displayed at each level of the report hierarchy and at the grand total level. If no summary value is available for a certain level, nothing is displayed for it.
While moving to Warehouse sublevel of the report, total amounts and balances are broken down into the amounts associated with each warehouse according to the item’s inventory transactions involving a specific warehouse.

The default summarizing settings are defined in the values section of the Invoice report. To define the summarizing methods, the summable fields have been added and summarizing options have been specified for them.  Except for specific reports that do not provide for full customization (see Customize Reports), you can change the summable fields and the summarizing methods for your reports.
