Warehouse Movement

Use the warehouse movement document to transfer inventory from one warehouse to another or between different sections of one warehouse. The document covers internal stock movements only. In other words, using the warehouse movement document, inventory transfer can be carried out only between your company’s warehouses or warehouse sections, not between your warehouse and the one belonging to your customer.

For the warehouse movement document to take effect, it has to be posted. The posting affects the Inventory journal transferring goods from one warehouse or warehouse section to another by indicated quantities. If items were moved between different inventory accounts, the posting will also influence the transaction journal crediting a selected source inventory account with the cost of the transferred quantity of goods and debiting a destination inventory accounts with the same cost.
Note: Items to be transferred are written off from the source warehouse or the source warehouse section according to the selected inventory valuation method.
For more details about supported inventory valuation methods and how to set them, see My Company Settings: Main Information Tab.

If multiple warehouses are not allowed in the system (the Multiple warehouses option is turned off in My company settings), you can use this document to transfer goods between different inventory accounts or between different warehouse sections of the default warehouse.

For more details about enabling or disabling multiple warehouses in the system, see My Company Settings: Preferences Tab.

If warehouse sections are not allowed in the system (the Use warehouse sections option is turned off in My company settings), you can use this document to transfer goods between different warehouses or different inventory accounts without indicating specific warehouse compartments to which and from which goods can be moved.
Note: Warehouse sections are available only if you have selected the FIFO as your inventory valuation method.
For more details about enabling or disabling warehouse sections in the system, see My Company Settings: Preferences Tab.

Indicated quantity for transfer cannot exceed the source stock balance if negative balances are not allowed in the system. Also, you cannot move reserved items between warehouses, warehouse sections or inventory accounts unless you have enabled the sale of reserved items. If you want to transfer reserved items or move more items than available in stock, you have to allow it in My company settings.

For more details about enabling or disabling negative balances in the system, see My Company Settings: Preferences Tab.
